My Pamper Routine | lifewithuce

Hi lovelies!
Long time no speak. I hope from my last post it's been an eye opener for one or two of you to not depend on someone else for your own happiness. Once you find happiness in your self, the people who matter the most stay and come into your life without expecting it. I've had quite a few positive remarks and lots of lovely feedback on the post and a few people telling me that I've been strong and an inspiration which consequently just makes me feel even more stronger. Relationships and break ups can be really rubbish and can lead you to be very unhappy for a period of time.. BUT, with the right people around you, plenty of happy music and visiting new and exciting places, you're already half way there to a new, happier you.

So I've just had my 17th birthday and I got quite a lot of bath treats and washes etc (I think my family might be trying to tell me something..) and quite honestly with all these new products, I came to the decision of having a pamper day and bringing you lot along with me throughout the luxurious experience.

So firstly, I always like to set the atmosphere off in my bedroom really cosy and calming. This reed diffuser smells super gorgeous and smells of white cedar and musk. I also lit this White Tea and Peony candle that one of my good friends got me for Christmas and it's such a relaxing, heavenly scent. Both a really lovely combination for a calming atmosphere.

I find taking all of my makeup off throughout the day before my pampering session always makes me more at ease, cleaner and refreshed. Even if I've had no make-up on throughout the day, it's always nice to clean off any dry or dead skin on your face for more of a refreshed feel. After, I use my facial wash to wash off any excess dirt on my face. The facial soap I use is Clinique liquid facial soap, mild. I find this product lathers up really well on my face and has a really uplifting scent, also leaving my face refreshed and rejuvenated.

Now, to finally begin the 'pampering', I always like to make myself a warming cup of herbal tea. Pukka Tea is by far one of my favourite brands of herbal teas. Each flavour is just so completely different and unique, I love them. The flavour I chose was the Serene Jasmine Green- a sensual haven of organic green jasmine tea, chamomile and lavender. It says it all on the packet, a sensual haven. I then like to get all my comfortable pyjamas ready to wear as soon as I get out of the bath for total relaxation. That includes my fluffy dressing gown, my soft pjyama top and bottoms, my fluffy slippers and a new soft towel. I find that music is the absolute key to a specific atmosphere and for my pamper day, I chose Zen Spa which is an Asian meditation radio.

Before I run my bath, I prefer to wash my hair in the shower first so that it's easier to clean. This way it's not as 'faffy' in the bath and you can give your hair a thorough clean in the shower. Now, my new favourite shampoo and conditioner are featured in today's post. The brand is called Sonya and it's not a very well known brand. However, it works wonders. You hardly need any shampoo for a good lather, it smells lush and it leaves my hair feeling really well washed and has the most lovely glossy shine to it when dried. I find with the conditioner especially, I've never experienced my hair so shiny before and I'd definitely recommend these two beauties, the only downside is that they both are on the higher price range of £12 and can only be bought in certain hairdressers I believe so quite hard to get your hands on, but if at all you come across this shampoo and conditioner, don't hesitate to get yourself a pair, just DO IT!
Before drying my hair, I like to apply these two products onto my hair to protect my hair from the heat. The first one, on the left, is a VO5 heat protect serum. Try not to put this serum too close to your roots or it could leave your hair looking very oily and not very flattering. Just simply pump some of the serum onto your hands, rub between your hands and gently apply it on nearer the more fragile places on your hair, such as near the split ends. After, I tend to spray this TREsemme heat protector onto my hair, mostly because the serum doesn't quite reach all the places i'd like it to and the spray can be applied near the roots of your hair where the serum cannot. Plus, the smell of the spray is to die for!

Whilst I'm running my bath, I like to put the bathing sugar into the water to leave the bath smelling really relaxing and softens my skin. Afterwards, a few drops of Johnson's baby oil doesn't go a miss as it leaves my skin feeling silky smooth after getting out of the water. Of course, a bath bomb is necessary and usually i'd go for a Lush bath bomb but unfortunately I'd ran out, I need to go back real soon! Instead, I used a bath bomb I got from my friend a couple of birthday's back and it's filled with honeycomb crystals and lavender- heavenly. Lastly, there is a Lush soap next to the bath bomb which I like to wash my hands with before getting into the bath just to rinse off any dirt from my hands.

As most young women like to do, I thought i'd give myself the pleasure of reading through an Elle Magazine which had been on my shelf ever since I had come back from my trip to London. Plus, the front cover was of Kristen Stewart and she is one of my all time favourite actresses. After my relaxing read, I put on my exfoliating gloves, put some Soap and Glory Scrub wash onto them and gave my body a gentle exfoliate to get rid of any dead skin. Then, I used Original Source for a simple body wash, which feels and smells gorgeous.
After my bath, I either enjoy putting on Soap and Glory body butter or the Pink Grapefruit Body Shop body butter. They both hydrate my skin really well and both have lovely, distinctive, refreshing scents.

Now these two products, myself and my mum both tend to share, in other words, they're my mum's but I use them on these special occasions! The first one is a lovely Liz Earle moisturizer and has the nicest consistency to moisturize my face with. Secondly, the Liz Earle eyebright, soothing eye lotion is a god send as it instantly relaxed the eye muscles and makes the eye much more refreshed yet also relaxed.
I tend to get really dry lips when I've had a bath and i'm not overly sure why that is..perhaps from being dehydrated. But, simple Petroleum jelly makes my lips much softer and does the trick perfectly.
Lastly, before getting into bed, I apply the Elemis overnight serum all over my face in a dabbing motion, especially in my t-zone and I then I take the lavender oil and put a few drop of it into my pillow for a relaxing, calming vibe.

To finish off my pamper routine, I make my bed, plump up the cushions, take my laptop to watch a movie and indulge into my favourite chocolates. A perfect way to end the evening..

I do hope you've enjoyed this post as much as I have. I find a pamper evening so calming and enjoyable., maybe you can take some tips along with you to your next pamper session from mine!

Bye for now!
Lots of love,

Onwards and Upwards | lifewithluce

Good evening all,

In this post, I haven't really got a main 'theme' as such but the main aspect of it is keeping positive no matter what's happened or happening in your life at the moment. So, someone asked me today, "So what are your talents?" and honestly I froze and I didn't know what to say. I had played my guitar in the past, thanks to my late Dad surprising me with one when I was a little girl, I love to sing all the time and it feels so nice when people say "you're such a good singer Lucy" out of the blue, I'd baked hundreds of buns and honestly felt so proud, but then I actually thought about this little page I made and actually felt a sense of pride. It made me smile and I picked up my laptop and decided to start typing :-)

So, I'll get on with it. You may of noticed that I've been with someone for quite some time from my previous posts and a couple weeks back it all ended, and not very pleasantly either. I wont go into much detail in the specific events but when someone is disloyal in the relationship, it's not very easy to forgive them, especially after the amount of time you spent with them day in, day out. However, we were arguing a LOT, perhaps it drove him to become distracted from what was happening between us and focus on finding happiness elsewhere.

After a year and four months, it's normal that in some relationships, feelings fade and consequently fade away from what i'd call not only your partner, but your best friend. It really hits home when everything begins to sink in and I'm not going to lie, I posted a harsh status and texted people close to him about what he had done. I can blame anger and the feeling of betrayal for the way I acted and in no way am I proud of that and hopefully I can learn from my mistakes. But, what I do know is when you love someone and their life and your life are so similar because you do practically everything together, act like each other, share so many memories together and it all just ends in a matter of minutes you do feel like you've been punched in the stomach several times.

Break ups are happening all the time and it's just a part of life you need to get through. Some quicker than others, some worse than others. We are all different people and shouldn't be judged on how you apply your emotions when it comes to break ups. Of course, some of the people around you can either take away the happiness or increase it in just a few words, at the end of the day, it's down to you how you react to it which is the important thing. Plus, when you've spent such a long time with someone and they find it super easy to move on just like that, people do not know what it's like until they've experienced it themselves. However, when mixed messages come into it by the ex, the last thing you need is to be messed around. So, finding the strength to just let go or in other words 'just get over it', it will always be a challenge but the best way out!

What I am incredibly proud, thankful and happy about are my friends, new friends, family and most importantly, my mum. I'd probably be curled up in bed crying my eyes out if it wasn't for them, I know, pathetic! BUT, I'm sat on my sofa, Gogglebox on pause, laptop on my lap and just typing away, getting it all out and I haven't felt this relived for a while. The amount of people who have shown support and have actually managed to put smiles on my face through all this has been incredible and I feel so so lucky to have them in my life.

If you, reading this have felt or are feeling like what I have felt, my advise would be to surround yourself with happy, positive people, distract yourself with as many different things possible, create a playlist with your best, favourite songs and make as many plans with friends or family as you like. I know, when you're feeling like you've hit rock bottom, the last thing you want to do is be around people because you feel like you're just going to depress everyone. That's fine! Listen to that playlist and when your mood starts to pick up a little, your friends will always be there, ready and waiting to make plans.

In a way, I'm lucky this has happened to me because it just makes me feel like a stronger individual and preparing me for future relationships. Also, after some time, myself and Max have decided to remain friends as what's done is done in the past and we can both continue with our separate lives with people we both deserve whilst still being friends. Plus because this has happened, I get to share my thoughts and feelings to you and maybe even help you a little.

Lots of love, as always,
Luce xxx

I'M BACK!

Good evening!

I think it's fair to say that it's been way too long since i've been on my little site. Lifewithluce was definitely a hobby that died out for a very long time. I'm not going to lie, I have had a mental past year and no, this isn't any excuse as there has been many times I could've been back. Anyhow, I have missed typing away to you all.

I've just started sixth form after finishing all my GCSE's- which by the way is apparently nothing compared to A-Levels... oh flipping hell. I've decided to take Law, English Literature and Food Technology, three subjects i'm very fond of. I'm loving sixth form so far and even though it's hard work, i'm definitely determined to get the best results I can get. Little bit of motivational talk for you there ;-)

There isn't really any 'topic' to this post if you like, i'm just enjoying typing away on my laptop to who ever out there decides to visit, old or new. I believe the last time I had written a post on here, I had been through quite an ordeal with a certain person on the internet which affected me massively, i'm not going to go into it as it's still a very personal matter of mine. I would just like to advise anyone reading this, please make sure you know who you get talking to on the internet as it could end up in a very confusing and upsetting time, as it was for me. On a brighter note, I have a new fella now, (I say new, we've been together for more than a year now) who by the way is one very special human... he's been wanting a mention for a while now so there you are. :-)

I will start my blog properly again by the way, i'll have to rack my brains to come up with some appealing and exciting new posts. I think the fact it's now officially Autumn, (one of my favourite seasons of the year I might add) I don't think i'll be short of ideas as there are so many lovely things happening around this time of the year, such as halloween, bonfire night and the Autumn clothing that I just adore, Not to mention Christmas is just around the corner and I feel like an excited little five year old all over again! Even the thought of mince pies, (which I've already eaten this year and it's only September...) mulled wine, snow, Christmas tree decorating and cosy evenings with fluffy blankets and the fire on. I think i'm getting a bit ahead of myself.

On that note, I shall hopefully be back soon with some fancy, new ideas and I hope you have a lovely evening.

Lots of love,
Luce x

Making Butterfly Buns | lifewithluce

Hello, hello, hello! I hope you are all very well. It's definately been a heck of a long time since I've been on lifewithluce. However, I've never actually forgotten about my lil' blog :-) It's quite hard when I still have people coming up to me in school asking when my next post will be up, I like that people enjoy reading it that much. So, if you remember a while back, whether you've been with me from the start of lifewithluce or you just happened to stumble across this post of mine, I have done a post like this once before, it was called Making Cookies and I think it was uploaded some time last year? Anyway, what I'm going to be posting today is, you've probably guessed it from the title already but I'll be making butterfly buns today. I absolutely love butterfly buns, infact I love any kind of sweet treats, so this was a must to post today :-)

This recipe is courtesy of the Be-Ro Home Recipes and I've stuck by this cooking book since I can remember so I didn't have any major worries on the outcome of these today.

Ingredients-
100g (4oz) margarine
100g (4oz) caster sugar
2 medium eggs
100g (4oz) self-raising flour

1) You need to pre-heat your oven to 180C, 340F, Gas Mark 4 then either grease your baking tray or add pretty little bun cases in your bun tin.
 2) Then you will need to weigh out 100g of soft margarine and put it into a large mixing bowl.

3) Then, you will need to weigh out 100g of caster sugar and place it in the same large bowl.

 4) Then, mix them both together making it a light creamy colour.
5) After, you will need to weigh out 100g of of self-raising flour, not forgetting to sieve the flour into the bowl.

 6) You will need 2 medium eggs.
 7) You will then need to crack both eggs into a glass and whisk them vigorously using a fork, making sure there is no shell  has fallen in.

8)  Sieve the flour into the bowl, in small amounts with the egg poured in between.

9) Pour in the egg

10) Mix together until creamy.
11) Add an equal amount of mixture into the bun cases and put into the pre-heated oven, using an oven glove.
12) Bake for 20 minutes.
 13) Make sure they're a deep golden brown colour and are not sizzling when you take them out of the oven or they're not fully cooked and need to go back in.
14) Take them out of the tin and place them on a cooling rack.
 15) Whilst they're cooling, weigh out 50g of soft margarine for the butter icing.
 16) Place the margarine into a bowl.

17) Then weigh out 100g of of icing sugar flour.
  18) Then sieve the icing sugar in the bowl.

19) After, use the back of the spoon to combine the margarine and icing sugar.

20) Until you get a thick consistency.

 21) Then using a knife, cut out a circle at the top of the bun and cut the top into halves.

 22) Next, fill the bun with icing sugar so it's slightly domed at the top.

 23) Then, add the halves on top as shown below to create the butterfly wings effect.
 24) To decorate, sprinkle any thing you fancy on top, I used chocolate balls.
 25) Once you have completed all the buns leave them to cool. Once they have cooled, they are best enjoyed with a cup of the finest Yorkshire tea or a splendid cup of rich coffee. ;)

Thankyou for reading or scanning through this post, I hope it's given you inspiration to make some of your own cute little butterfly buns! <3

Lush Haul | lifewithluce

Hello everybody! Today, after much anticipation to create this post, I've finally sneaked some time in on this chilly, Autumnal afternoon to do so. So, my post today is ALL Lush related. I absolutely love reading posts on Lush cosmetics and watching +Zoella 's YouTube Lush Haul videos, so this is a post i'm definitely going to enjoy writing. Last weekend, my mum and myself took ourselves to Leeds for some well deserved, quality shopping time. On our travels we found ourselves in (one of my most favourite shops) Lush Cosmetics. I absolutely adore this shop, it's a me kind of shop. The smell is somewhat powerful once you walk in, yet it always seems to bring a smile to my face. My eyes are always searching and my nose smelling for some other bath bomb or bubble bar I haven't yet purchased. Now around this time of the year, Lush bring out the festive products, that includes Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas. I admit, after I left the shop, after a considerable amount of time, I did feel like I had bought pretty much the whole of Lush. However, in my opinion the price is so worth it. I don't know if you've been in Lush recently but it really got me into the festive spirit. I don't know if it's the nippy wind outside, big coats or the thrilling lead up to Christmas but i've never felt so festive so early in the year!

Here is my little collection of themed Lush products I purchased;

La Collection
Just so you can see the collection in more detail, i've took individual photos of the products. As shown below;

Shoot For The Stars
This bath bomb smells so so incredible and I can imagine wonderful, dazzling colours exploding once fizzing and shooting away in my bath tub. It's a perfect bath bomb to launch into your water after a long tiring day of Christmas shopping. I love the baby blue shooting star which surrounds this beautiful bath bomb, it's really quite captivating and it finishes the design in a really well created way.

Yog Nog
I can't describe how indulgent, plain and yet simply amazing this soap bar smells like. It has the Chocolate Crunchie scent and it's definately a temptation to taste a bit.. I think it's a smell that you either love of hate as it's quite sweet and sickly. The bar itself is quite slippery in your hands and I haven't actually used this yet, but I could imagine it being a a lathery texture when in contact with water. I bet it leaves your hands smelling divine after using it though. I think it's even been dusted with cocoa powder for extra sweetness and a more attractive finish, I have to say, it is one of my most favourite products I purchased last week. There was a larger option, however, I thought the size I bought was a large enough.

Sparkly Bath Bomb
This yellow bath bomb really captures your attention as it gradually sinks into the water, thousands of golden particles literally explode once in the water. I had the pleasure of meeting a lovely salesman who worked at Lush cosmetics and he showed me what happened to this plain, yet exciting fizz filled, explosive bath bomb in the water. This bath bomb is Bonfire Night themed and I love how Lush think of everything occasional wise. It doesn't look very attractive out of the water as the wonderful Alfie evidently states it as the 'Corn on the Cob' ( +PointlessBlog) . It has a long strip of golden sparkles down the centre which swims across the water, leaving the water a beautiful golden, sparkly look. It smells quite strong and powerful which could represent the explosive atmosphere on Bonfire Night with the fireworks and bonfires. There was a purple replica of this bath bomb, which i've forgotten the name of but instead of a golden strip down the middle, it has a a silver centre. Both, a great combination of colours.
Sparkly Pumpkin
Halloween, Halloween, Halloween. This gorgeous, orange bubble bar has a warming and cheerful scent which is ideal for any cold, crisp night. As soon as I saw this bubble bar in Lush I knew instantly that it was coming home in my Lush bag. As it was the only Halloween themed bubble bar I found it was a must really. Plus, the smell made my decision much more easy to make. To create this wonderful experience in the bath, all you do is crumble it under the running water and watch the magic happen with hundreds of bubbles develop in front of your eyes.
Christmas Eve
This bubble bar instantly makes me all Christmassy and cosy inside. The bright, yellow moon on the pale blue sky brings a warm, festive mood to my bathroom window sill. The smell that comes with this lovely designed bubble bar is magnificent. I'm guessing a warm yellow and blue swirl of colours in the bath water when crumbled under the running water, leaving a cheerful and dazzling glow. I wish they had this bar all the time in Lush because i'd probably be in there all the time! I'll just have to stack up on them in the bathroom cabinet, a years supply..
Holly Go Lightly
This is by far my most preferred Christmas bubble bar. It's cased in a sparkling, desirable silver glitter which leaves the bath water looking gorgeous. It has the most Christmassy scent I've ever smelt in Lush. It's spice scented, which makes me feeling cosy inside. Perfect to watch bubble away after coming out of the wintry winds. I also adore the festive design on the bubble bar, the reds and greens are my all time favourite Christmas colours, especially together. The only bad thing I can say about this is that the glitter gets everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Although, it does add extra sparkle to my life:')

Lastly, I want to present to you my two little cherubs of loveliness. On the left you can see So White, this is a deluxe shower gel which just leaves my skin feeling really soft and smooth, not to mention the scent. Now the scent is actually the same as the So White bath bomb which obviously is just as gorgeous. I had to limit myself at some point.. The shower gel also has a shimmer to it which makes your skin looking lovely. It has apple, rose, bergamot and neroil oils to 'lift the spirts'. Again, a lovely combination of smells. Then, on the right you can see Mask of Magnaminty which is a face and back pack, love the use of play on words there;') It has a wonderful and refreshing peppermint smell too. It's a self-preserving formula and does everything in its power to fight eruptions and outbreaks. Something that i'm always conscious of. It's now become quite an essential of mine..

So that's everything I bought in the lovely +LUSH Cosmetics shop. Something well worth spending money on. I hope you've enjoyed reading this post. As always, keep smiling and shop at Lush;')
